Okay…but should I focus on off-site directories? Isn’t on-site SEO more important?
I say no. Using nothing but off-site submissions, press release directories, article directories and the like we took a reasonably new site and generated over 100,000 hits without doing any on-site SEO. This all happened in less then six months. As a matter of fact, the site itself didn’t ANY real search engine traffic for almost four months, yet we still managed to get SUPER high rankings for our primary keyword phrases. We were also building a huge list at the same time and mostly for free. I share these types of tips at www.twitter.com/mymoneycoach so be sure to check it out.
So, where do you start?
- Forums – One of the many ways you can start to promote your site is by visiting forums in your niche. Start building your reputation on that subject area while slowly promoting your site at the same time.
Many forums allow you insert your link in your signature. This can be used as a way to refer visitors and gain sales. Forum marketing is a great way to get new customers as you are literally building a trust relationship customers, while inviting them ‘back home.’
- Articles – Another popular method to building links is by writing articles about your product and slowly submitting them various repositories on the net. Submitting articles to these sites is a great way to build traffic. If someone reads your article they may very well click through on your link right to your site!
Super SMALL sites, especially in the beginning…and focus on building incoming links. AND lots of off-site content and syndication.
A common question is ‘How do I get more traffic to my site?’ Your answer is Twitter! What is it? Basically its a miniblog. It will take you less then a minute to write a post and get it out there.
